The HMCS Sackville was used during WW2 as an escort ship for trans-atlantic crossings. This corvette, and those like it would have been used to protect ships from U-boat attacks, and is the last remaining Canadian corvette from the war. Recently (June 2010), QUeen Elizabeth visited the Sackville during the 100th anniversary celebrations of the Canadian Navy.
