After the Halifax Explosion destroyed most of the city in 1917, the Hydrostone District was built to replicate an English-style garden suburb. Today a block of the original buildings makes up the Hydrostone Market, and it's definitely one of the trendiest places in Halifax. The shops and restaurants here are fantastic, and it's a great palce to spend a few hours in the city.
