Everyone must stop by the Byward Market when in Ottawa. It's centrally located in the middle of a cross section of busy streets. Inside the market there are chocolate, pasty and mustard shops, along with other fresh fruits and veggies. Some nice sandwich and lunch spots too. Wander outside the market and head one block in almost any direction and you're surrounded by shops and restaurants. The best Beaver Tail stall is near the Byward Market.

what more can I add about a great place to stop in, on your travels through Ottawa, Ontario. Inside are a variety of foods, and items to check out, and of course outdoors you can look at and buy everything from foods, to jewellery, to clothing, anything you find at a market is accessible there, also don't forget the restaurants and pubs, and stores that align the busy, busy, popular streets..

The Rideau Canal is the longest natural ice rink in the world. it takes you from the Parliament to the Lake over a few miles. Skate away and munch on awesome Beaver Tails.

Most activity is during the day, with food and handmade article vendors all around. Evenings tend to be more quiet except for restaurants an d bars.
