Toronto Island
About Toronto Island
Toronto Island is actually made of several islands located just offshore from the center of Toronto and accessible by ferry. The islands are home to a small residential community, and together form the largest car-free community in all of North America. As such, it's a great place to walk and bicycle around (bicycles, qudracycles and canoes are available for rent), and a popular place for picnics. There is a small pseudo-theme-park on the island with a few rides. Toronto's downtown airport (the Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport) is also located on one of the islands.

Oct 17, 2008 Summertime is when to go. You can have a picnic, relax, enjoy the views of the Toronto skyline. There are some decent beaches for getting a tan, and volleyball and softball is available on the island too. There is also a frisbee (disc) golf course. Overall a perfect escape from downtown just minutes away for a weekend day trip! Jul 22, 2011 great place to chill out and inline skate or ride a bike. Can get busy at the weekend during high season for picnics etc but once you get out of the central area its a lot quieter! Related Links
