Built in 1657 by the Romain catholic Sulpician Order, the Notre-Dame Basilica was at its time of completion the largest church in North America.  In the interior, the Basilica features stained glass window depiciting religious scenes in the history of Montreal, and also contains a Casavant Frères pipe organ with four keyboards, 97 stops and 7000 individual pipes.

The Notre-Dame catheral was the site of Pierre Trudeau's state funeral, and Celine Dion's wedding.

The Notre-Dame Basilica is located in Old Montreal, and is one of the most impressive buildings in the area. Trouble for me though is I had just come back from Paris after seeing the original Notre-Dame for the first time, and something just didn't quite compare right. Worth visiting though!

Simply beautiful. All of old town Montreal is a thing to behold. One of the few places in Canada that still feels like Europe.

Beautiful! You just want to sit there and take it all in. We met the organist who played for Celine Dion's wedding.
