Mont-Royal Park is a favourite destination for those looking to enjoy a breath of fresh air and unspoiled green space in the heart of our bustling city. First opened to the public in 1876, the famous park was designed by the renowned American landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted, the same man responsible for giving the world the famed Central Park in New York City. Boasting a wide range of activities, services and recreational sports, Mont-Royal Park is the preferred outdoor destinations for Montrealers from all walks of life!
Located adjacent to the Mont-Royal and Notre-Dame-des-Neiges cemeteries, Mont-Royal Park offers visitors a wide range of outdoor activities to choose from including cycling, hiking, picnicking, paddle-boating, sledding, snowshoeing, skating and plain old lazing around! For serious cross country skiers, there’s 20 kilometres of trails to test out. While the Olmsted Road remains the most popular – and paved – way of accessing the mountain's summit, there are a wealth of hidden footpaths that wind their way through the forest just waiting to be discovered.
Boasting two chalets selling a variety of snack foods and drinks – one at the top, one at the bottom. Some of the park's best features include Beaver Lake – located in the centre of Mont-Royal and doubling as a refrigerated skating rink in the winter – as well as the Camilien Houde and Kondiaronk look-outs offering some of the most spectacular panoramic views of downtown Montreal.

An awesome place to do some jogging, or simply chill out. The lookout gives a very impressive view of the city as well. It's a completely different place depending on the season you go visit. During the summer is crowded, with a lot going on like music (the tam tams!), picnics, bicycles... Fall is beautiful with the leaves changing... and during winter, even though it's REALLY cold, it's very charming and pleasant to go for walks there. I'm gonna miss Mon Royal Parc a lot...

This park is an oasis of green space in the center of Montreal. I love to run up the pathway on the south side of the mountain at Peel Street to the Observatory at the top, which is a great work out with rewarding views of the city. You can also park at the top of the mountain and walk to the lake and the lookout if you have less time but it is definately worth a stop, whether for an hour or a day of playing.

This park may be the most beautiful city park I've ever been to.  Designed by Fredrick Law Olmsted, the same as Louisville, KY's great park system, this park is centered around Mont Royal, the "mountain" for which the city is named.  Climb to the top for great views of the city and an even better walk through the woods.

A great place to go to get out of the city, and the best place to get a perfect view of downtown Montreal. Montreal is named after Mont Royal, so a trip to the city wouldn't be complete without a visit here!

You can walk and jogg in the mountain. On Sunday, a lot of people gather around and play tam-tams (when I was there anyways!). Another parc with baseball/football/volley-ball fields in front!
