The decision to be on the island was taken a few years ago when they began to talk aboud earth warming up and that a lot of islands will be flodded.So I had to travel there immediatly.The 5 hours flight from Santiago was pleasant when I knew what will be waiting for me.The island itself is quite arid but my focus was on the culture and the statues.The feeling when you look at them is so strange as if the statue wants to look back at you to tell you his story.Overwhelming is maybe the feeling.

Hanga Roa is teh heart of easter Island. The only city and place for ldogings, food, car rentals and services. There are nice food and souvenir markets and everyone seems to know eachother on the island! It is easy to walk around the city or rent a bike to get from place to place. One potential problem foreigners face is the lack of ATM machines. They rarely work with foreign bank cards, so if you run out of money you need to line up inside the bank to get a VISA advance.
