The Tapati Festival is held annually on Easter Island, with a large number of islanders participating in singing and dancing competitions, as well as horse riding, surfing and other contests. Events all focus on Rapa Nui culture and language.

Visiting Easter Island during the Tapati Festival is the only way to get an in depth appreciation of the history of the island and it's culture. Rapa Nui language, culture and traditions are slowing fading and this is the one event dedicated to preserving that heritage. It lasts 2 weeks and is a never ending stream of contests and events!
