West Street
About West Street
Xijie Pedestrian Street became known as "Western Street" since it functions as the main strip that foreign travelers got to and stay when spending time in Yangshuo. As a result, the street is packed with restaurants, bars, nightclubs, hotels, hostels, and guesthouses, but most of all, souvenir shops.

Jan 16, 2010 West Street is ok, but only if you're up on a 2nd-floor balcony observing the action below. Down at street-level, it's a zoo, even during the off season. Most of the gift shops sell their goods at a hefty tourist premium, and touts will try to get you to check out whatever hotel/guesthouse they work for. There are some good restaurants there, and many nice places to stay at just off of the main strip, so there is some convenience in staying there, but I recommend not staying longer than 2-3 days in the city and heading out into the countryside to appreciate the incredible landscapes. Jul 22, 2010 West Street is very much geared for the foreigner. There are cafes everywhere, if you like that sort of thing, and it's easy to find English speakers. The food is a bit expensive for China. It's easy to find bikes for rent, to ride out of town and see the amazing scenery that most people come to Yangshuo for.
