Wall
Situated adjacent to the the Simatai section of the Great Wall, Jinshanling is a 10.5km section was built in 1570 during the Ming Dynasty.  Parts of the wall have been restored, and there is a cable car transporting visitors to the top of the wall, but sections closer to Simatai are closer to their natural stage.

This section (from Jinshanling to Simitai) was fantastic. It was authentic in that hardly any of it had been restored, and although that made the trip (of 24 towers) a little precarious at times, it felt more "real". At the end of our hike we could see the "touristy" sections of the wall - the bits that had been renovated to accomodated wheelchairs, and helipads. They were all done up with concrete and smoothed out. It just looked wrong, and way too modern. I was so glad we got the "dnagerous" section, and got guided through by a couple of old chinese ladies form the local village who didn't speak any english. It all came together into quite a memorably chinese adventure (the guides harrassed us into buying souvenirs (Great wall postcards etc) half way through the trip. Those that didn't buy them weren't given quite as much help as those who did. It was all part of the fun!

I absolutley loved the walk along the wall from Jinshanling to Simitai! It was just what I always pictured the Great Wall of CHina to be like! It was further from Beijing than the more popular sections of the wall, and since we went in early March there were very few people there. We passed two groups (5-10 people max), so there was nothing distracting us from the great views. There was snow on the wall though in March, and that made it a little slippery on the steeper sections, but it just added to the fun. The temperature at that time of year was actually pretty perfect - really cold in the shade, but great for walking in the sun! If I ever get back to China I'll definitely visit this section of the wall again and hopefully I'll be able to keep on going! :)

It's a 5 stars attraction. It's a such a huge moniment that it can be seen from space. It has so much history and it's a "must to see" once in your life. It's simply magical.

simply amazing! nothing much to see just the wall itself. you have to be in shape when going there as you need to go walking around the wall with sometimes having steep climbs.

For certain....impressive thing to see! At some points of the wall, quite crowded but, all in all, if u r willing to walk a bit...u will find less ppl and great views.
