If you go to Suzhou you're not likely to miss The Hanging Administrator's Garden. It, deservedly, is in all the guidebooks and on all the bus tours. As you stroll among the pavilions, peer out of gaps between rocks or gaze from the top of one of the "mountains" you will be continually astonished at the level of thought that went into this garden and at the consistency maintained despite hundreds of years of additions and adjustments. The creators of the garden thought of every conceivable sight line and each is worth looking at. Go in spring when the leaves are just out, flowers are in bloom and sun dances on the water.
