You’ll go through a long path bordered with trees and flowers. Then you will enter into a big hall where you can see different pits. In the first pit there are mainly horses and some soldiers. The third pit is beyond imagination. You can see 8000 life size Terra Cotta warriors and horses that were excavated from the tomb of the1st Emperor of the Qin Dynasty. What is amazing is that each soldier has different features and expressions.
You wonder, what on earth have let all these warriors be ranged in that place and order.
You can go to a second hall where they show you a documentary about this place.
Terra Cotta is a place like no others.

This is good to go once. It's one of those "must see" places on any trip to China. But aside from the big warehouse that houses these warriors, it's really not that interesting.

A lot of tchotchke vendors all along the path to the terracotta warriors. Inside, they don't even let you get that close, you walk around the excavation area.

The drive to the area is just dessert (as is everything outside of Beijing), with pomegrante trees and poor villages. Not the most beautiful nor scenic drive.

Go once, and say you've been there, but not worth a second time.

Xian is the capital of Shaanxi province, located in the southern part of the Guanzhong Plain. The weather was unbearable hot in mid July ... like opening an oven door when going outside from an air conditioned vehicle or building. The cultural and historical significance of Xian, as well as the abundant relics and sites, make it a 'Natural History Museum'. The Museum of Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses was a highlight of traveling and enjoying other cultures to date. Makes one think what else is buried under the ground.
