The Confucian Forest is found in the suburbs of Qufu, 3km north of the town centre.
It is the burial ground of the Kongs, Confucius' family, and many tombs are scattered around this beautiful atmospheric forest, sometimes half concealed in the thick undergrowth. It is great fun walking around this pine and cypress forest in search of tombs and statues of men and animals, and you are unlikely to see anyone else, as most tourists only visit the tomb of Confucius and do not venture deeper into the forest.
It's therefore a fantastic place to spend a quiet afternoon, away from the hordes of tourists found elsewhere in Qufu.
