Open since 2004, the maglev connects Pudong International Airport to the city of Shanghai at very high speeds.  The magnetic levitation train travels over 400 KPH to cover a distance of about 30 Km in only about 7 minutes.

This one was great fun!!! Awesome for train enthusiasts... The train touches speeds of upto 430 kmph, at designated times during the day, and, I think, over 350+ at other times. (You could google for the exact timings.) It was such fun watching the speed display shoot up to 430, and watching the city simply whizz by! Reached the airport in a cool 8 minutes. Tip : You get a 10 RMB discount on your Maglev ticket, if you have a flight ticket for the same day. The Maglev ticket is otherwise around 50 RMB, for a one-way trip.

Wow, we took this train simply for the thrill of riding the only commercial maglev train at the time. It went crazy fast and it was almost scary when the train coming from the opposite direction shot by like a bullet in the middle of the journey. Once we got to the airport, we turned around and did it again to get back to Shanghai. Fun!
