If you are tired of all the pollution in big Chinese cities, Emeishan is the ideal retreat. It is a World Heritage listed area with ancient monasteries, misty mountains, cobblestone paths winding through forests. I could not get enough of the clean air and felt like I had stepped back in time. WOW. Buy a carved dragon walking stick and take your time wandering up the trail. There are plenty of curious snack stalls all along the way and you can stop for the night in the monasteries. My favourite was Wanniansi at the end of the hike, it was just like a fairytale, complete with a legend about a flying elephant.
