May 27, 2010 Outstanding place at the north base of everest. but there are much better viewpoints to everest, quiet close, but of course not so easy accessible by a truck or 4-wheel drive. monastery in a quiet crapy shape and the usual ugly chinese military post close. If ure on the way on the freindship highway between Lhasa and Zhangmu/Kodari still a must trip of the main track - for everest, not for the monastery
