Flaming Mountains
About Flaming Mountains
Situated within the Tian Shan Mountain Range, the Flaming Mountains are a series of barren red sandstone hills that have been eroded over time. The name comes from the striking appearance that the mountains have when the sunlight hits the mountains in the right way, during certain times of the year.
About 98 kilometres long and 9 kilometres wide, the gullies and trenches within the hills are formed by years of volcanic activity. The climate is extremely harsh and the temperatures can get really hot, so plan to go if you do during the day. The mountains gained literary fame when it was written into fantasy novel, Journey in the West. Payment Accepted:
