Jizushan is a Buddhist holy mountain, with an ancient monastery on the top which looks over the Himalayas. It is stunning to walk the trail as it winds through forests and across magical streams.

I felt like a hobbit on an adventure for the whole day it took to walk to the summit of Jizushan. You can hire a horse for some of the way and there is homestay accommodation in the village at the bottom. Worth the effort! On the way back I took the boat to Dali town, which was also a magical way to arrive.
