Old Town
About Old Town
Although the old town of Cartagena has some really enchanting architecture and a vibrant array of colour, all of this is somewhat overshadowed by all of the garbage that is around, and also by the most unfriendly manner of the people who live there. If you plan to visit Colombia, I would not recommend making Cartagena and the Caribbean coast your main destinations, although they do deserve a few days' attention.

Jul 30, 2008 Cartagena is a very beautiful city in the north of Colombia! there is an old part and a very modern new part. The old part is sweet, charming and very romantic... you can have candle-light-dinner everywhere! Unfortunately the beach isn't very beautiful, but take a trip to one of the islands (for example Baru). Like heaven on earth! Oct 21, 2008 I thought the old town of Cartagena was one of the most beautiful places I've ever been and I totally loved spending a week just walking around the city. The hawkers can be a bit 'rip-off' but as a whole the people were nice. I'd highly recommend staying in the old city of Cartagena Jan 24, 2010 ENCHANTING..GOOD GOURMET RESTAURANTS, VERY LIFELY, FULL OF "WARM" PEOPLE. DON'T MISS A TRIP TO ONE OF THE ISLAS DEL ROSARIO .... STAY 2 O MORE DAYS...LOOK FOR A PEACEFUL RESORT AND YOU WILL BE RENOVATED... WE DID STAY AT "ISLA DEL PIRATA" VERY SIMPLE BUT ENJOYABLE.
