Jul 18, 2009 Tayrona National Park, one of my favorite places on Earth. You have to take a bus or taxi from Santa Marta, then another taxi into the park. From there, hike about 45 minutes through the jungle to reach the beach. To stay the night, most people hang a hammock from a palm tree or covered area, some use tents. Shower facilities are basic, cold water. Just down the beach there is a bakery with delicious bread, plain, coconut, chocolate, etc. Since it's tough getting there, it's never too crowded, except for Holy Week. Stay away. Watch out for falling coconuts. Oct 28, 2008 Went on my own with another female and had a blast. Took horses in and out of the Park. Makes for a cheap and quick journey through the hot jungle to the cool beautiful beach. Hammocks are available. DON'T FORGET your Yellow Fever card. They check it at the entrance. Also check out The Lost City Trek nearby. Related Links
