Considered one of the most pristine and scenic coastline parks in South America, Tayrona National Park is situated along the Caribbean coast.  Tayrona National Park covers an area 300 square kilometres in size, and is home to monkeys iguanas deer, eagles, and more.  Numerous hiking trails await for exploration as well as beautiful beaches at which to relax.  Off the coast are a number of coral reefs, and nearby is the archaeological site of Pueblito.

It is possible to camp and stay in ecohab huts..

Tayrona National Park, one of my favorite places on Earth. You have to take a bus or taxi from Santa Marta, then another taxi into the park. From there, hike about 45 minutes through the jungle to reach the beach. To stay the night, most people hang a hammock from a palm tree or covered area, some use tents. Shower facilities are basic, cold water. Just down the beach there is a bakery with delicious bread, plain, coconut, chocolate, etc. Since it's tough getting there, it's never too crowded, except for Holy Week. Stay away. Watch out for falling coconuts.

Went on my own with another female and had a blast. Took horses in and out of the Park. Makes for a cheap and quick journey through the hot jungle to the cool beautiful beach. Hammocks are available. DON'T FORGET your Yellow Fever card. They check it at the entrance. Also check out The Lost City Trek nearby.

Amazing place. To go there, you should hire a tour group. It could be dangerous to go on your own.
