La Playa Samara is the best beach to get tan, or a sunburn if you're not careful. But its so relaxing and certainly away from the rest of the tourists. At first it seems like a ghost town, but then you realize that there are people and they're all looking for a good time away from Manuel Antonio. Its the most beautiful scenery and you can enjoy batidos, or smoothies all day and look at the view and never get tired. The surf is calm, so its not for surfing, but its nice if you have kids or you just want to swim.

Playa Samara was one of my favorite beaches in Costa Rica. There were only a few people on the beach at any given time. The surf is very calm so not a place if you looking to surf. The beach is about a 3 mile crescent shape that is a great place to run or just lay out and relax.
