Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve
About Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve
Founded in 1972, this private reserve covers most of Monteverde's rain forest and cloud forest. Within the forest is an extremely diverse ecosystem with 130 species of mammals, 500 species of birds, 3000 species of plants, and more. The experience of walking through the cloud forest, high up in ramps where the paths just disappear into the mist is unforgettable. Popular activities include taking some of the guided tours, canopy tours, zip lining, birdwatching, and more.

Aug 7, 2009 The Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve is a unique place where you can still find the mythical quetzal. The clouds of the cloud forest give it a mistique glow. The Quaker community is very warm and if you want to get a quick start onto the trails you can stay at the reserve lodgings. A must see when you're in Costa Rica. I lived in Monteverde for half a year and spend 5 months living and working at the reserve. They have a very nice volunteer program!
