The Roman Arena in Pula in the Istria region of Croatia is one of the few Roman Empire's remaining arenas.  It was constructed in 27 BC - 68 AD, and unlike other arenas, it is built into the hillside, which saved on materials and labor.  Because it has undergone some restorative activities, it is not eligible for UNESCO protection.  Below the arena in what were once the gladiators chambers is now a mini-museum with wine and olive presses.  It is Croatia's best preserved monumant, and is now used as a venue for semi open-air concerts.  The Pula Arena is depicted on the some versions of Croatia's 10 Kuna bills.

The place to be ...
If you're going to Pula, you have to check it out ... It's the place where you can feel the glory of the old world making its pass into this one ... A place where you can feel as you were a warrior, a legionnaire or even the Roman Emperor himself ... The location is awesome just a few minutes from the Adriatic Sea coast in a wonderful settlement ...

Nice place with the roman history. It is the only colloseum with all for walls still standing with its usual roman cartheristics. It was build in 27 BC - 68 AD. It is beuatiful to see the view on Pulas see through the walls of Arena. It was restored and is now used for concerts and other venues. A must see.

If there is a concert or midnight film festival going on when you are visiting, you simple must go there, as the experience is unique. I watched the last Harry Potter when it just came out and to see it with about 2000 people under a dark sky full of twinkling stars on a huge screen is just magnificent.

Pula is the ancient Roman city in Croatia... the remains of roman culture is all around the city... the most famous is in center of Pula, the Colosseum, also known as ''Arena'', and it's very well kept...

A beautiful place, nowadays mostly used for events such as concerts. Looks fabulous when lit up late in the evening and filled with energy of performers and spectators.
