First opened in 1843, Tivoli Gardens is one of the oldest and most famous amusement parks and gardens in Copenhagen, Denmark. The park is situated on what was once part of the fortifications surrounding Copenhagen.

The park is known for a number of attractions, including a wooden roller coaster Rutsjebannen (Bjerg Bannen Mountain Track), considered to be one of the oldest wooden roller coasters in operation, the world's tallest carousel, Himmelskibet at 80metres high, th Statue of Little Mermaid, and more.

The gardens are planted with thousands of bright flowers and trees, and contains a lake illuminated with hundreds of coloured lights.

Over 5,000,000 visitors come to Tivoli Gardens per year.

A must see for any trip to Denmark. Built in the 1840's,many of the buildings are original.It is an amusement park,but was originally built as the centre of entertainment for Copenhagen's Elite,with theatre's,stage street performers of all mediums. Although it can be expensive,it has to be at the top of the list of places to see.Even though it is an amusement park,it has got alot of history and originality.Plus alot of gardens.It has something for all ages and families alike. For food,you can't beat Valhalla.An all you can eat Viking Buffet!Plus a Ride accompanied by a Viking Mythology Story after your meal. Good to see anytime,but the best time to visit is aroung Holiday Times (Christmas,Halloween........)as the whole park is transformed into the holiday theme. http://www.tivoli.dk/composite-3351.htm

Tivoli Gardens at Night is where you allow the charm of lights to turn your realities into a dream. Never have I had such a delightful feeling than being in Tivoli Garden at night. The smell of stale cotton candy, the shadows wearing jewlery of a multitude color of lights. Please, on a Saturday night, stay at Tivoli Gardens until 11:30pm or you'll not understand the bliss that my words here are trying to convey to you.

Skip the rides...blah blah blah.... there is a restaurant in Tivoli Gardens, the name escapes me now, but it is behind the Hard Rock and up a set of stairs...... the food is good, but the BEER is the best in the world!!! They home brew their beer and serve it up in a viking horn. Overly touristy, but did I mention it was the best beer in the world! Beer lovers take note... search it out!!!!

You should try and visit Tivoli Garends at night. It is truly beautiful when it is dark and the lights come on. It is a very decent amusement park, but it excells with one of the few European BM rollercoaster: Daemonen. As far as I know, there is no (or a small) entry fee and you pay per ride. So you can at least take a look.
