I shall not recommend you swim, crocodiles might you a welcome. There´s a little island inside the lake, the biggest in Dominican Republic and one of the saltiest in the world. That island has lots of beautiful pink flamencos. A boat takes you there. All around that big lake are different provinces and Sierra del Bahoruco, many mountains, Caritas -a cave with drawings by indians over 500 years ago- is along the road. Travel light, drink plenty of water. That temperature is hot, but worth it! There are "aguas sulfuradas" which are well known as good for your health, quite near the lake.
