Sombrero Chino is a small island off the south east coast of San Salvador / Santiago Island in the Galapagos.

The name comes from the landscape of the island which resembles that of a hat. There are great ocean vistas to be enjoyed here, and an lively, active sea lion colony as well as plenty of marine iguanas.

"Chinese Hat" island as it is known was more impressive than I anticipated. Beautiful turquoise waters at the landing area contained playful sea lions. There was a huge beach master patrolling his harem too, honking at and chasing competitor males away, it was great to watch. There were some really nice lava tubes and formations on the island that I did not see anywhere else in the Galapagos. Marine iguanas were all around as well.
