In the small valley of the Ecological Reserve of Cayambe-Coca there is a complex of thermal pools of Oyacachi, next to a small cold village of wooden houses and 480 inhabitants. Oyacachi is the original place where the venerated Virgin of El Quinche appeared.
From the parish of Oyacachi we start the trip by the left margin of the Oyacachi River through a trail to Maucullacta and Pueblo Viejo (former settlements) after a few minutes of walk you will be able to appreciate a series of ruins, the old houses of these people built with lasca rock. Further on you arrive to Pueblo Viejo, place were, according to history, the appearance of the Virgin of El Quinche, divinity also known as the Virgin of the Cave took place.
Once in a while you may be able to appreciate birds and with a touch of luck you may be able to observe some animals that are considered in danger of extinction such as bears and tapir. Along the road we find a waterfall of approximately 20 meters and lakes where you will be able to take a bath after this long walk.
