Hypnotizing chaos, holiday makers contrasting with the beggars everywhere and the delight of the Cairo Museum are all idiossincracies you can look forward to. The mummy room is definitely worth visiting but be prepared to pay a little extra and also even though you are not allowed to film or photograph you can eventually agree a little something with the guard ;) It is a fact that you will find a lot of beggars on the street but many sell cheap papyrus imitations or interesting wallets which can be a good way of spreading some of your hard earned/saved money while getting souvenirs for the folks back home...

Cairo is grate but you need a lot of patience (and you need to neglect the fact that it's dirty). The traffic is horrible so if passing the street, watch the locals (or walk between them), but once you get used to it ... Always negotiate before getting in taxi. Bargain every time you buy something. If you're going to Upper Egypt, don't ride a camel in Cairo and buy your souvenirs there as well (it's cheaper, especially in Aswan)

Allways negotiate the price before you get on the Camel. Don't give more than 10LE (usualy 1-2 LE will be enough) . One guy had to pay 25 euros in order to get off it.

Camel ride is most expencive near the Pyramids.
