A massive pair of statues of the Pharaoh Amenhotep III seated on a throne.  These 18m statues once guarded the entry to his funerary temple.  Sadly they are now all that remains of the temple complex that experts now believe was once larger than the Temple of Karnak!

The Colossi of Memnon are two immense stone statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III. These impressive carvings are located just outside of Luxor , aside the road from Luxor to the Valley of the Kings . They offer a fantastic photographic opportunity. While I was there, goats were grazing in the area and people going and coming from the markets. It was a nice place to relax in the shade of the statues and take in the beautiful green countryside. Good journeys!

Perhaps the most imposing monument on the West Bank at Luxor.Unfortunately the condition of the statues is not good. This is mainly caused by the soft nature of the stone from which they are made, combined with ancient Earthquake damage.

These are a pair (that means 2 :-p) of 800 ton massive statuesof a sitting Pharaoh Amenhotep III and they are the soul survivors of the temple which used to be there. It is believed that you can hear the colossi sing .

Amazing - these statues are just sitting by the side of the road. It's sad to think if they are not properly preserved, they may not be standing there much longer....
