Sep 18, 2008 In my opinion, the most amazing of all the temples!! I recommend going twice...once at night for the sound and light show and once during the day for a full tour; each is really a different experience! Philae Temple is so undescribable...you're going to have to see it to believe it! Dec 9, 2008 It's the Temple of Goddess Isis. Philae was submerged with water while they were building the dam, so the Egyptians took 7 years to displace it. This temple is so important for the history of Egypt because Champollion found Cleopatra Cartouche there which helped him to decipher the Egyptian hieroglyphs that covered the Rosetta Stone. Thus all the secrets of the Egyptian culture was revealed thanks to this Cartouche that was unearthed on Philae. On this island you feel the presence of gods. Jul 29, 2010 Philae Temple is incredible, and was one of my favorites in Egypt! The water setting really made it stand out, and it was incredibly beautiful. We went late in the day when most of the crowds were heading back, so we virtually had the place to ourselves...plus going later in the day with the sun going down the light was perfect for photos (and it's definitely a place to take lots of photos). Do not miss this if you go to Aswan! Oct 26, 2008 I am sorry to disagree with the others but I was very disappointed in the Sound and Light Show at Philae Temple. I could't understand it properly and what I could understand was very corny. Although it is a good temple (better during the day from my opinion), there are many other better and more interesting temples and sites in Egypt than Philae. Oct 21, 2008 To me this is one of the most beautiful temples in Egypt. It was rescued from the floodwaters when the Nile was dammed, and rebuilt on the Island of Philae. The temple is dedicated to the goddess Isis. It is beautifully preserved, and the fact that it's right on the water seems to lend it a peaceful and harmonious atmosphere. Charter a felucca to get there.
