Its construction started with Nasser in1960 and ended with Saddat in 1972.
It saves Egypt from drought, it's also a hydro-electric power station. However its construction was a threat to some temples as Abou Sinle and Philae. It took 7 years to displace Philae(300m) and save it. Besides, 6000 persons were displaced in order to build it.
