The Romanée-Conti Vineyard in Vosne-Romanee
About The Romanée-Conti Vineyard in Vosne-Romanee
LIke most of the finest Burgundy Pinot NOir vineyards it is well tended. A recent aarticle noting that the ground is cultivated by horses to avoid compacting the soil shows a draft horse and plowman doing just that and in the next row over is a very clear "tractor track". Perhaps I missed something but it was a very poor chioce of photos. We spoke to a oung woman in the vineyard across the road and she was proud to state that the small, perhaps 2 acre vineyard she was tending was her sole responsibility. I would die and go to heaven were I so lucky to have just one little piece of the finest vineyard site in the world to tend alone.

Aug 15, 2008 "La Romanée-Conti is the scarcest, most expensive - and frequently the best - wine in the world ... If you can lay your hands on a case - and that is a big 'if' - you would have to pay £5,000 or more for a young vintage, double or treble for a wine in its prime. ... This is the purest, most aristocratic and most intense example of Pinot Noir you could possibly imagine. Not only nectar: a yardstick with which to judge all other Burgundies ." - Clive Coates
