One of the most famous landmarks of the world, the Eiffel Tower was designed by Gustave Eiffel on Champ de Mars near the Seine River. Its was constructed between 1897 and 1899 as an Arch to enter Exposition Universelle and designed to emulate the sturcture deep within our bones. A temporary building that was supposed to be dismantled, it remained standing because of its value as a communication tower. In 1889, it was the tallest tower in the world (324 meters).
The unique shape of the structure was designed in order to withstand wind forces. It weights over 10,100 tonnes and is made of 18038 pieces od puddled iron.It is split into three levels, the first two towers are accessible by both stairs and elevators but the third tower is only accessible by elevator.

It’s such a crowded spot – but why wouldn’t it be, it is the universal symbol of Paris. Completed in 1897 but has out lived it original 20 year life plan. This is a must do when in Paris even if you line up for an hour. Trivia Did you know Kiwi AJ Hackett was arrested for doing a bungy jump off the Eiffle Tower - was arrested and put in jail for 3 days and charged with an act of terriosm. He was released claiming it was an act of tourism not terrioism

First you have to -as usual- pay to be able to go on it. the line is murder and you usually have to wait for a LONG time. The visitors can take the elevator or the stairs to the 1st floor but then have no choice but take the elevator to the top. While in the elevator, you see more and more of the beauty that is Paris. If you go at night, you shall see sort of beacon on the very top of the tower, lighting the night sky. The top is very small and sort of crowded but you are still in no danger to fall since bars are all over the place. So yeah ... It really is a wonder of the world and in case of wind may tilt a bit, moving the top for 6-7 cm

A trip to Paris will no doubt take you to the Eiffel Tower and it certainly lives up to the hype! The lines are long if you want to take the elevator up to the first level (you have to take an elevator to get to the very top from the first level), but the line-up to take the stairs from the ground to the first level was by far shorter and also a lot cheaper than the elevator option. The views are unbeatable! It's absolutely gorgeous!And here's a random Eiffel Tower fact - it was built for the 1889 World Fair, and was almost torn down in 1909, but was spared because it proved to be the ideal location for radio antennas! Go figure! :)

Even though I dont like huge cities, the center of Paris seems gorgeous to me ! There is a lot of people and cars, but the things you can see there are worth the way... You can go by elevator on the top of Eiffel tower, but I rather took the stairs ! The view was crazy!! After that we went down and I had GREAT ice cream right by the Tower = it was SOO big and it costed 5 euro lol...Ill b back in France soon ....4 sure...hopefully

Until you actually see it in the flesh, you won't believe your eyes. It's enormous! You can pay to go up, they have lifts and stairs for the very brave! Once you get to the top you find yourself with a wonderful view over Paris city. It's probably best to go up there during the day because at night time you really can't see much except for lights. Nevertheless, well worth a visit.

The eiffel tower is amazing. i went to it like 6 different times while i was in paris, however i never went up it because the lines are SOOOO long, but hanging out in the grass is wonderful. warning: if there are any women that come up to u and ask u if u speak english and its obvious they are not tourists then say no, they are gipsies asking for money and they are very pushy.

More beautiful then pictures can express. It begins to get a little scary when your on the top floor because it is so windy you feel like your going to blow away. Although it is beautiful during the day I would personally recomend going at night, just to see the beautiful lights of the city and the flashing lights of the tower itself.

Arrivi a Parigi e non puoi non fiondarti sotto il tetto di lamiere che alto taglia il cielo della capitale francese. La fila per gli ascensori è lunga, ma la vista ripaga del freddo (dei mesi invernali quando sono andato io) e dello stare in piedi aspettando trepidanti di poter girare per quelle panoramiche terrazze a diverse altezze.

My second favorite spot in Paris. I know it's ridiculously cliche , but it was amazing! I went to it at night and it was all lit up! It was so huge, and we went to the top and had this amazing view of Paris...only my second favorite spot because of the weather that night, but it still didn't ruin the experience!

The Eiffel Tower was built for the International Exhibition of Paris of 1889 commemorating the centenary of the French Revolution. The Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII of England, opened the tower. Of the 700 proposals submitted in a design competition, Gustave Eiffel's was unanimously chosen.

A great tower with many ascenseurs and stairs. In the top someone can see all the Paris from the balcony. Thousands people every day and many traffic. It's so difficult to stay for hours until see the Paris from the top. Must have many patience.

An amazing place, unfortunately I couldn´t go all the way to the top, as there was trouble with the elevator or something, so I´ll have to return someday... I´ll look forward to that... I had dinner in the restaurant, that was very nice...

I love the aerial views from most any elevated place- mountain, plane, tram, etc. And of course the Eiffel Tower was very exciting. Especially since it was only the 2nd 'foreign' city I had ever been to. I was such a novice back then.

It's famous, everyone has probably seen it on a picture or something like that but to be there and to see the 'real' Eiffel Tower is just amazing..
Not very recommended to climb though for those who are scared of heights ;)

Wenn man in einer so grossen Stadt den Überblick verliehrt, dann ist der Eifelturm prefekt um sich einen Überblick zu schaffen :D, besonders abends ist es wunderschön dort oben. Ein richtiges Lichtermeer liegt einem zu Füssen.

The setting for the tower, as you walk to it from town, along a nice boardwalk is quite nice and conjurs up that romantic feeling one might expect in Paris. Even a non-city person like me can enjoy it!

You can't visit Paris without a ride to the top of the Eiffel Tower. I spent over 2 hours looking over Paris and it was spectacular. We then went back at night to watch the light show at about 10.00pm.

The Eiffel Tower is a must se, when you visit Paris the first time. A long with the others most famous "must see" attractions for turists. After that, it's enjoying the city, in the small cafés etc.

A must see while in Paris. Go to the top for the view. Also, you can mail your letters/postcards up on the Eiffel Tower and they will get a special stamp on them. Loved the views from the top.

Het is zeker de moeite waard om er naartoe te gaan. Je moet het gewoon gezien hebben. Het is enkel spijtig dat ik de Eifeltoren niet bij nacht heb gezien, want dan is het nog mooier.

A must to go and visit if you go to Paris, you can't miss it...LOL Slightly expensive restaurant at the top of the tower, but hell the view is worth it and quite romantic on a night.

I dunno what all the fuss is about. It's just a massive tower. But the view from up top is nice. And you can get some excersize by walking to the top, or you can get a lift (:

What can be said about the Eiffel Tower? It's one of the most famous pieces of architecture ever created. That alone makes this a very worthy stop while in Paris.

Amazingly astonishing. the whole Eifel Tower gets lit up. Wonderful view from the Arc De Triomph. The only inconvienence is the wait to get up the elevator in the day
