Located in the northern section of the city, Montmartre mount, the highest spot in Paris (130m), is a picturesque area with Sacré-Cœur Basilica and the popular Place du Tertre.

Sacré Coeur is a white-domed basilica that dominates the city and offers a magnificent view of Paris. It is part of the Paris skyline. With Eiffel Tower, it symbolizes Paris.

Place du Tertre is a square where artists, tourists and Parisians mingle, browse and relax in a warm agitation and convivial atmosphere. Artists paint in public, draw portraits of visitors/tourists and expose their paintings next to pratrons relaxing on patios of famous bistros.

At the end of the 19th century, Montmartre attracted famous artists such as Utrillo, Lautrec, Pissaro and Van Gogh . Monet, Van Gogh and later Dali and Picasso had studios in Montmartre.

Montmartre is accessible by foot (many steps!), by a funiculaire (cable railway) ascending the hill from the south or by Montmartre buses.

This was my favourite place in all of paris. It has the most awsome panoramic veiw of Paris. If you are in the area I would highly recomend taking a walk to the top of the Monte Marte church roof via the spiral staircase (if your feeling energetic). You get the most breath taking veiws from up there and its a great chance to take some awsome photos! Make sure while you are in the area that you check out artists square which is located to the left of the Monte Marte church. There is some really amazing artwork. You can get your picture scetched there, and there are so many artist to choose from with all different styles. I missed it on my first trip to Paris and had always said if I was ever back in Paris that was one of the places I would vist, and i'm so glad I did. I really fell in love with this place...

You go through narrow streets where you enjoy the view of artists who have taken the streets as their ateliers and who are ready to sketch out your face or sell you the best souvenir from the place. It is an artistic center where many famous artists, including Picasso, Monet and Van Goh, used to live there. The Sacre Coeur Cathedral(130 m high) standing majestically at the top of the hill. You see tourists sitting on the stairs and enjoying the nice view of Paris. A visit to Montmartre is a memorable place where you can find the romantic Paris with the beautiful stall of flowers, the French cuisine and the smell of the French bakeries and patisseries, the artistic side with the painters and the cabarets around.

Montmartre is a hill which is 130 metres high. Many artists had studios or worked around the community of Montmartre such as Salvador Dalí , Claude Monet , Pablo Picasso and Vincent van Gogh .
It still keeps a very subtle and unique atmosphere in spite of the affluence of tourists from all over the world.
