The view of Paris from its “parvis” (square) and from the top of the dome is breathtaking. It can be seen from almost everywhere in Paris as it is built on Montmartre hill. From a distance, it looks like a white wedding cake (its permanent white color is due to the quality of the stones it was built with). With Eiffel Tower, it symbolizes Paris. Payment Accepted:

Feb 22, 2011 Montmartre is a hill (the butte Montmartre) which is 130 metres high, giving its name to the surrounding district, in the north of Paris in the 18th arrondissement, a part of the Right Bank. Montmartre is primarily known for the white-domed Basilica of the Sacré Cœur on its summit and as a nightclub district. The other, older, church on the hill is Saint Pierre de Montmartre, which claims to be the location at which the Jesuit order of priests was founded. Many artists had studios or worked around the community of Montmartre such as Salvador Dalí, Amedeo Modigliani, Claude Monet, Pablo Picasso and Vincent van Gogh. Montmartre is also the setting for several hit films. This site is served by metro line 2 stations of Anvers, Pigalle and Blanche and the line 12 stations of Pigalle, Abbesses, Lamarck - Caulaincourt and Jules Joffrin. Oct 22, 2008 Transport: Metro – Anvers – 2 (can catch a funicular or walk to top of hill) Sacre Cour is a gorgeous church on the top of Paris ’ highest hilltop. This is a very funky part of the city where you can stroll along, and take in the artists sketching and relax… Oct 11, 2008 Another amazing sight to see! Inside it explains the history of the cathedral. If you wish to you can also go inside the church, just amazing, it is a piece of art. Even here you are allowed to go to the very top of the cathedral and enjoy the view. Although it ia always very busy (especially on the stairs in front of the cathedral), you will experience serenity, I guaranty that. It is quite a climb to get there, so I suggest you take a cab, because once you're there, you have to climb there too. If you want, you can give some small change to the church. Apr 30, 2009 The elaborate facade of the exterior as well as the impressive interior make this Cathedral a must see!!! The bell tower, contains the*Savoyarde* (19tons) = one of the largest bells in the world. Enjoy the breathtaking panoramic view of Paris from the top of the Montmartre hill and take a short stroll (around the corner from Sacre Coeur Cathedral) to Place Du Tertre* a picturesque old square that comes alive with its cafes, painters "en plein air" and a cosmopolitan crowd ;-) Jan 19, 2011 Climb the stairs or take the Funicular up the steep hill to this beautiful cathedral. The view from the top is lovely and allows you to see the entire city spread out before you. The grounds with mature trees is beautiful. A tour inside the church is well labelled and awesome. This is definitely worth the trip and easily accessible by metro. The gauntlet of tourist-trap gift shops was a little crazy. As you exit the Metro you are welcomed to a lively and colorful part of Paris.
