Oct 10, 2009 This place might be a bit tricky to find. Auberville is on the D513 between Villers-sur-mer and Houlgate. Once in Auberville take the Chemin de l'église. Somewhere on your left you can find a sign indicating both where to go to get to the vaches noires and that it is actually forbidden because it's too dangerous. To be honest it is a bit tricky. The first few hunderd meters you're walking through a field but once you're in the forest the path start decending really fast. Some parts were a bit slippery even though it hadn't rained in days. Because I was on my own I was a bit afraid to get stuck there with a twisted ancle or something like that so I took my time getting down there. In the end it took me just under half an hour. When I arrived at the beach I saw these huge flock of birds flying away. It was very misty so I couldn't really see it all but I thought the mist added an extra dimension to it all. I was there on my own with just these huge blocks of stone, the sea and a few birds who had decided I wasn't a treat at all. Very peacefull and calming. Some people come down there to look for fossils which apparently are found very frequently in these calcair grounds. Related Links
