The Normandy Museum covers pretty much all of the early history of Normandy from the prehistoric to the middle ages. There are exhibits on migrations and conversions to christianity, landscapes and peasantry, crafts and industry and costumes and customs. Entry is free.

The museum is not that big but still I spend quite some time in the archaeological part of the museum. Good exposition with some really great pieces, loved the coins and the different grave gifts from different times. If you're in Caen you have to see this, it's free so go.

The displays in the museum are quite well constructed and the signs are in both French and English but to be honest I just didn't find the museum that interesting...
