The American Cemetery and Memorial in Normandy contains the bodies of many of the ex-servicemen and women who fought in France during the Second World War and a number of engraved tablets dedicated to those who are still missing.  The Visitors Center contains information relating to the Normandy Campaign and those who served.

I think it would be almost impossible to walk through this cemetery and not be moved by the sheer quantity of young lives lost during the Normandy Campaign.  When you then extend that to the various other campaigns and nationalities it's a very sobering thought. The Visitors Center is well constructed and informative and gives a good historical base to take into the cemetery itself.

Emotional. Omaha Beach just to the side of the Cemetery as well. Be sure to take the walk to the edge of the water
