Apr 30, 2009 If you are looking for beautiful open sea into the blue costal waters of France, you will come to see why it's called one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The sun is hot in the July season so bring good protection from the UV rays and heat. The Boardwalk is ample for walking and bicycle riding - watch out for the tourist golf-cart style buses that swim through the area. The ocean is incredible, the waves are strong and the tides can bring you out easily but coming back to shore is a bit of a battle. If you are wearing any piece swimwear, watch the tide as it may pull you out of them! The beach is covered in large pebble stones - the size of those that are used in select high-end spas for hot stone massages (good to use them for it - just make sure not to over do it because they can be hot!). You will have difficulty walking barefoot so make sure to wear a sturdy, strapped, water-proof sandals and shoes. Otherwise, you can lose your shoes in the water because of the tides so I wouldn't recommend flip-flops. The walking is uneven and you will "feel" the ground you walk which can be painful. One last thing about footwear (you can thank me later!), if your shoes is one of those 'oh-so-cute-for-the-beach', it may not be practical for a Cote D'Azure beach. Most likely due to the uneven stone coastlines, part of your shoes (straps, soles, toe-areas) can come apart, especially as it gets wet which may cause the bonded areas to come apart from the adhesive lifting. Other than that, enjoy the waters (warm!) and the sun (hot!) and consider the possibility of going sky parachuting out into the Côte d'Azur! Bon voyage!
