Quartier Saint Jean (Old Lyon)
About Quartier Saint Jean (Old Lyon)
Le Vieux Lyon, the old part of Lyon, is part of the UNESCO world heritage and after Florence it is the second largest renaissance town in Europe. Here you can also see the "traboules", passages between buildings that used to offer protection for the resistance movement during the war and for different secret societies throughout the history. The old town is the place where you can find shops that are open on Sundays as well and also a bunch of typical Lyonnese restaurants called "bouchons".

Not to be missed the International museum of Miniatures and film sets in a exclusive Renaissance building (free with the Lyon city card). The second hill of Lyon: la Croix Rousse, the home of the canuts, the silk workers, where in days gone by, the sound of Jacquart weaving machines was a permanent background noise. Walk down the hill through passageways and courtyard that give a very special Feb 15, 2010 très beau quartier du vieux Lyon très animé vraiment sympa Il y a encore beaucoup de Traboules situé Sur la Rive Ouest de La Saône Aug 29, 2009 I love old, traditional areas in a town,it seems to be the reminiscents of another era in time...
