Le Vieux Lyon, the old part of Lyon, is part of the UNESCO world heritage and after Florence it is the second largest renaissance town in Europe. Here you can also see the "traboules", passages between buildings that used to offer protection for the resistance movement during the war and for different secret societies throughout the history. The old town is the place where you can find shops that are open on Sundays as well and also a bunch of typical Lyonnese restaurants called "bouchons".

The old town, a world heritage treasure. It
is one of the biggest areas of Renaissance
architecture in Europe and it has
succeeded in maintaining an air of mystery
that is completely unique…You can
frequently walk right through
passageways, locally called the traboules
between buildings and yards. Not to be missed the International
museum of Miniatures and film sets in a
exclusive Renaissance building (free with
the Lyon city card). The second hill of Lyon: la Croix Rousse,
the home of the canuts, the silk workers,

Wonderful place to discover by foot on a lazy Sunday afternoon - there are always small shops open and you can have a drink in one of the cafes when you get tired.

It's lovely to wander round the Old town with it's cobbled streets and loads of gorgeous restaurants. A great place to get some traditional French food.
