If you go over the suspension bridge, coming from the train station toward the Rhone, the back of the church will be to your left. Walk toward it and you'll be able to pass right through this site

There are ruins beside the beautiful Saint John the Baptist cathedral from a 4th century church that was the location of a 2nd century church meeting place. Amazing cross shaped building can be seen and baptistry is still in place.

The Cathédrale Saint-Jean is one of the most beautiful monuments of Lyon. Also, note the 'chevet Saint-Jean’ which you can admire from the Saone quays. Au coeur du quartier du Vieux Lyon, cette cathédrale vaut le coup d'oeil :)

I lived across from this historical monument while studying in Lyon during the summer of 2005. The cathedral is absolutely stunning inside and you is the heart of the city.
