This gothic style church is located in Seine Saint Denis, a suburb of Paris where a high concentration of immigrants live in an unstable social environment. Built in the 5th century, it was expanded in the 14th century. It is the burial place of most French kings. Many tombs were destroyed during the 1789 French revolution. Seventy monumental tombs were restored in the 19th century and are exhibited in the church.

Burial place of almost all of the French Monarchs since Clovis I (465-511). Really a mind-bender. A masterpiece by Abbot Suger (1081-1155). Really a must see.

This building marks the beginning of the Gothic. The sanctuary is an outstanding example for this archtitectural periode.
