May 15, 2011 If you're in Bavaria, Schloss Neuschwanstein is a must-see. It is probably most well-known in the U.S. for being reputed as the inspiration of the Disneyland castle, but on its own, it's an impressive work of architecture. Historically, the castle gives some insight regarding Mad Ludwig, the German monarch that called for its construction. Additionally, the castle is situated on a mountain in the midst of a forest in Schwangau, which is stunningly beautiful. There is also a magnificent view of the castle from the Marienbrücke, a bridge in the forest, suspended high above a waterfall. The whole setting looks like it was taken from a page out of a Brothers Grimm fairytale. May 9, 2011 awesome place to visit! Fussen is one of my favorite place in the whole Europe. It is like a fairytale wonderland that I constantly question myself if it's real. This place has all characters in every four season. I went there in Fall so I got to see this castle with yellow and orange leaves which was very romantic. But I heard from many of my friends that in winter it is also very romantic with the snow. May 8, 2011 Beautiful area. We got the tour for both castles. Parking is abundant and the walk to both castles is no problem. There is transpotation up to Neuschwanstein by carriage if you would like (for a price). Don't forget to walk to the bridge to get great pictures of the castle. Also, while in Neuschwanstein go past the coffee shop to get an excellent picture of Hohenschwangau castle. May 30, 2011 Most incredible castle. The castle and the view from it are just beautiful! The lake, on the base of the castle, is amazing. You can enter the castle, but only in a group with a guide (every 15 minutes, different languanges).
