English Garden
About English Garden
The English Garden (Englischer Garten) is the largest urban park in Europe and in Munich’s version of New York City’s Central Park. It was created in 1798 and has a river and several man made lakes. There are also a couple of Biergartens (Beer Gardens), sports fields, and many trails. It is great for walking, jogging, or biking, and there are many native plants and animals too. In the summer the English Garden is also popular with nude sunbathers.

Sep 5, 2008 Englischer Garten is Munich's answer to Central Park in New York City or Balboa Park in San Diego, CA. It has a river that runs through it and several man made lakes. There are two Biergartens (Beer Gardens) as well as tons of trails for walking, jogging, biking, whatever! Be wary though if you are shy as there is a large nudist section to this park. I've been to Munich many times and everytime I still find something new at the Englischer Garten to do/see. Apr 19, 2009 No visit to Munich is complete until you've spent at least a little time in the English Garden. It's the largest in-town municipal park in the world and it offers something for everyone. You can stroll, cycle, sunbathe (nude also!), swim in the rivers, get a tan on the huge greens and have cold beers in the beergardens. Parts of the garden include Japanese and Greek themes. Sep 15, 2011 I love the English Garden - it's so versatile! As a student going to the university (which is right around the corner of a choice section of the garden) I like going there to read the texts I've been given for class - but it's also a nice place to sunbathe, play ball games or frisbee with friends, or to put up a slackline. Oct 9, 2009 English name for Englischer Garten. Very good for a long walk. There is some Romanian style shrine and five story Chinese pagoda in it. A lot of nice walking tracks and open areas. If I am not mistaken, it is allowed to run around naked in Englischer Garten during summer time :-) Related Links
