Rothenburg is an excellent example of a city still within its walls. This city is not only beautiful, it is peaceful as well. If you travel on a Sunday the town is extremely quiet. You can still visit most of the Käthe Wohlfahrt Christmas Museum and store, along with the coffee shops and restaurants that are open.

Spectacular medieval city on southern Germany!! The whole city is surrounded by walls and it was preserved from bombings in WWII thanks to an American comander who knew the city before, and negotiated with german forces its surrender and preserving the city.

Absolutely magnificent middle age town centre. Don't miss the all year round christmas shop near to the main square. A walk on the city wall is also recomendable. And go to McDonalds - you don't need to eat, just take a look how they blended in.

I enjoyed the excellent craftsmanship of the wooden cuckoo-clocks from the Black Forest and adorable candle powered Christmas decorations.
