Berliner Zoo can be a great starting point to fetch public Bus #100 or #200 that will enable you to hop on/off Berlin main attraction points for EUR 2.5 only that is valid for two hours. The route covers Reichstag, Berliner Dome, Brandenburger Tor, Sony Center, KuDam, and the main surroundings around the city center. There is also an hourly bike rental if you would like to explore the city this way, as a good alternative to DB rental in Postdamer Platz.

Great place - an Art Deco masterpiece that was relatively unscathed by the battle for Berlin. Because its an older zoo you get pretty close to the animals - I managed to get splashed by an exuberant sea lion and was close to enough to feeding wolves to hear bones crack. Totally worth the price of admission both for the quality of the exhibits and the setting. Skip the reptile house though - seperate charge for admission and not really worth it.

One of the best zoos I've visited in Europe. I enjoyed it immensely, especially the elephants area; the wolves - had the opportunity to witness a 'wolf symphony' [hehehehe...], each wolf howling in turn; the hippos tank...amazing to see those big creatures so close! And Knut, of course! A place no visitor should miss when in Berlin. ------------------- Om Shanti!

Brilliant place to break up the day, in the beautiful surroundings of the Tiergarten. Plenty of historical things to do in Berlin, but it's nice to break up it's sever nature by a stroll in the park, which despite it's surroundings is in a fantastic central location. Thoroughly recommend it!
