We flew to Frankfurt with Lufthansa and arrived at Flughafen airport, which is Germany's largest airport and one of the busiest in Europe. It is located about 15 minutes by train from the centre of Frankfurt.The airport is quite nice and organised, with some interesting shops to browse in before you go through security. There are two terminals which are connected by the "Sky Line". The train station is connected to Terminal 1, which is where Lufthansa flights (and other Star Alliance airlines) arrive.

Not the best place to sleep (an unfortunate delay meant an uncomfortable and noisy night's sleep on a bench for me). But the airport is easy to navigate and the train to Frankfurt from the airport is cheap, runs often and is fast.

Frankfurt is really a great place. its kind of in between a big city and an ancient city. you have the beer on the main but you also have mainz tower. A lot of great food, the people are nice and lots to see.

Frankfurt is definitely more interesting and fun than one would expect. It is an international city with great restaurants, bars and uniques museums (located along the river Main).

Best airport in the world!!! Difference to Heathrow is that you actually find your gate etc. without even trying.
