Don't forget to stop at the rest area on the way to or out of town ... fantastic view of the city and castle. The castle tour was very informative (and the tour guide did speak some English although she said she didn't - which was helpful). You won't believe what a "lucky chandelier" looks like. :-)

Lots of authentic interior and a nice view over Cochem and the Mosel from the castle tower. Guided tours are around €4 and last about an hour. Most parts of the castle can only be accessed with a guide. This castle, first mentioned in 1051, is worth a visit.
