I went to Speyer just to meet a friend. Didn't know anything about this little city. When I saw the Cathedral I was really surprised. It is a huge and beautiful building. Worth to see it. The largest romanesque church in Europe. A UNESCO World Heritage site since 1981.

it is a "Kaiserdom" and was built by the Kaiser during the "Investure Controversy" and it is one of the biggest churches in europe of the time. It was the archetype for some other roman cathedrals, like the ones in Worms and Mainz.
