Trier is the oldest town in Germany and Porta Nigra is part of the old city wall surrounding the centre. You can visit the tower and you have some nice views over the centre.

I think it is a great place to go with a significant other. We found it to be quite romantic. German is a beautiful place to be. If you happen to be in the Trier area, the Porte Nigre is a great building to check out. The cost is inexpensive and it has great city views.

Its old its monumental its astonishing and its still standing even though it dates back to AD180 or something!!
